Welcome!

Our group is interested in pattern formation in biological membranes and on other biological surfaces, domain wall motion, non-equilibrium phase transitions, spatial population genetics, and strongly driven systems. Check out the research tab for more details. My group is based at Worcester State University in the Department of Earth, Environment, and Physics. If you are interested in joining my group, please contact me (mlavrentovich AT worcester.edu)!

Before moving to Worcester State, I worked for six years as an assistant professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK). I maintain collaborations there and continue to advise students. I also work with scientists at the nearby Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Before working at UTK, I spent three years as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Pennsylvania in the Soft Condensed Matter Theory group. I was a graduate student at Harvard University from 2008 to 2014, working under the supervision of David R. Nelson.  I received a B. A. in Physics and Mathematics from Kenyon College in 2008.  For more details, click here for my CV.
